In 1999 Aaron Baker broke his neck in a motocross accident, leaving him completely paralyzed from the neck down. Despite doctor’s grim prognosis over the next 16 years Aaron decided not to listen to those who said ‘he had a million-to-one odds of ever feeding himself again’ and instead, through painstaking effort, endeavored to regain as much mobility as possible. This journey through the unknown took him from the depths of depression to the joys of cross country road tripping via tandem bicycle with his mother and friends, and finally, culminated in his opening a socially conscious low cost gym focused on increasing mobility for the disabled. We watch as Aaron takes one final journey which symbolizes his recovery: to cross a 20 mile tract of Death Valley unsupported on foot. But will he make it?

376 AD — a refugee crisis in the Roman Empire. The destiny of a Germanic family and its tribe reveals a historical perception on today’s migrational movements. Inspired by actual events. The summer of 376 AD. The Gothic female warrior Elja is forced to give in to the marauding Huns and to seek shelter for herself and her clan in the Roman empire. Once at the border they must wait for orders and provisions from the Roman authorities. Elja tries to understand the Roman plans in spite of the language barrier. Reluctantly Elja must hand over her sword as the Roman general Cossus tells her that, being a woman, she will never be accepted as a warrior in Rome. She feels helplessly at the mercy of her alleged allies and their laws. Why is she being treated like a prisoner of war? Why can’t she travel onwards with her clan? What will happen when the Huns reach their camp? The Gothic faith — and in turn Elja’s entire identity — is put to the test. When Cossus surprisingly calls upon the Gothic clan leaders, tempers reach their boiling point and the situation escalates.

The China Mission chronicles the efforts, adventures and experiences of Irish catholic missionaries in China between 1920 and 1954 - times of political chaos, famine, floods, civil war and world war. This is not a small story of isolated individuals; over four decades, hundreds of Irish men and women worked in social, pastoral and disaster relief services and were swept up in epic events at an extraordinarily turbulent but fascinating period of Chinese history. For example, the Yangtze River floods of 1931 killed an estimated 4 million people. It remains the greatest natural disaster in human history and Irish missionaries were heavily involved in the relief efforts. When the Japanese invaded China during WWII, Irish missionaries found themselves in occupied and unoccupied territory. The war wreaked a heavy toll in China but the defeat of Japan did not bring peace. The Chinese people endured civil war until Communist forces were victorious.  And there was to be no place in Communist China for the Irish missionary priests and sisters who had worked in the country for four decades. Mao Zedong declared war on religion and persecuted foreigners in particular. Foreign missionaries were arrested and imprisoned in harsh conditions. By 1954 all had been expelled. This film makes extensive use of rare archival photographs and film ‘ much of it never seen before. Promotional films made by missionaries themselves are featured alongside international newsreels which help set the political and historical context. The China Mission is an extraordinary story of cultural interaction, and commitment in the face of natural disaster and political danger.

Director James Buddy Day spent a year interviewing Manson by phone from his cell in California State Prison. We tracked down members of the ‘Manson Family,’ many who have been in hiding since the early seventies. These compelling new interviews reveal new details that unveil the true story behind the grisly murder spree. Manson continues to be a beacon of public fascination. How could a drifter and ex-con become a charismatic leader of what prosecutors called a diabolical murder cult? Why did the killers target the home of a Hollywood sex symbol? And where did the prosecution come up with the theory that it started with a Beatles song called Helter Skelter? The film uncovers shocking new details, never before seen materials and digitally restored audio recordings from the original investigation to reconstruct the events that led to the murders of Sharon Tate and four friends on August 8, 1969. Exclusive interviews include Manson Family members Bobby Beausoleil, Barbara Hoyt and Catherine Gillies, prosecutor Stephen Kay, defense attorney Gary Fleischman and music producer Phil Kaufman. The film also features rare footage and audio recordings of Leslie Van Houton and Susan Atkins. The most riveting elements come from Manson himself through never before seen pictures, artwork, writings and recordings from inside California State Prison.

Two estranged siblings are reunited at the funeral for their parents, a couple of crazy doctors-without-borders who rarely stuck around to do any parenting. Though supposedly all grown up, Marcus and Michelle are as lost and self-centered as kids. They struggle with their lack of grief over the deaths, and they struggle with each other. Tensions rise while Michelle stays with Marcus and his wife. They wait for days as the family lawyer sorts out the convoluted estate of the globe-trotting doctors, who may not be the angels they were thought to be. Marcus tries to keep a sputtering music career alive as he spirals into a black hole of mysterious health ailments, and Michelle begins a secret affair with Marcus’ father-in-law that will be disastrous if discovered. The siblings can’t help but turn their current lives and relationships into chaos as they’re forced to reckon with their shared past. The movie is about pain, laughter, loss, sex, ego...it’s about the search for real family and the strong pull of roots. Turns out it’s hard to be the children of saints.

The film ‘In Rajasthan’ is an intimate look at a disappearing culture in one of India’s most traditional states. It is the story of two families, one Hindu and one Muslim, living in an ancient village in the Thar Desert whose lives have been interwoven for thousands of years with the Rajputs, once their feudal lords and protectors. They speak candidly about child marriage, their qualms about their spouses, the caste system, the dubious future of children exposed to the modern world, the afterlife, and the religious differences between them. Today, their traditional way of life is besieged, but their struggles with family, allegiance, religious conflict and death seem timeless.
