After a long journey through space the last two believers are about to reach their destination. Ananda, the space archaeologist, hopes to prove that Earth is not a myth and that all mankind did originated from the same tiny blue planet - but mostly he wants to prove his colleagues and his father wrong and to make the biggest discovery in history. Yamaka, the outcast rabbi, is searching for something subtler. He believes that Jerusalem is not just a mystical idea, but an actual place, where he might find the feeling of holiness missing in his life. Together they followed the clues and arrived at their destination, but instead of a living planet and a holy city, they find only the fragments of what once was...

MELODY MAKERS tells the true story of the rise and fall of the most influential music publication in history. Melody Maker began as a weekly jazz musician’s trade paper in the 1920’s and by the 1960’s became an internationally recognized “must read” for rock n’ roll fans and musicians alike. Melody Maker magazine became a pop culture phenomenon and this was, to a great extent, due to its Chief Contributing Photographer, Barrie Wentzell (1965-1975) and his black and white photos that blistered across the front cover. MELODY MAKERS features candid interviews with the Melody Maker journalists, musicians and other subjects who worked behind the scenes who infuse the film with humour, and offer new insight about the cultural significance of the paper at a time when rock n’ roll was in its infancy and Melody Maker magazine was revered as the bible of rock n’ roll during this dynamic, formative and most controversial period in music history. Melody Makers features a rare classic rock photo archive to capture this unique period in music history when confidences were kept, and journalists and Barrie had unprecedented access - pre paparazzi - before the national press began picking in the idiosyncrasies of celebrity. Melody Makers is chock full of anecdotal stories and the true stories from behind pictures.

This film is an audiovisual journey in the form of a three-part interaction between four narrators, emergent sound events and rhythmicized synaesthetic video sequences. A symbiosis of visual processes and natural and artificial sounds. Images, music, speech and sounds are commensurate compositional elements that lead the viewer through various microscopic and macroscopic structures of nature in a literal and transcendent sense, making them sensuous to the eye and ear.

GHOST OF THE MOUNTAINS (2016) - A meditative film journey to Mongolia’s wilderness in search of the endangered snow leopard. A very rare photo of a snow leopard from northwestern Mongolia in 2014 starts a Danish-Italian research expedition. A team of researchers travel 8,000 kilometers into the remote national park Silkhem B. to place 50 camera traps to help examine how the snow leopard population is doing in the area. The documentary follows the expedition on the three-week journey through the national park’s icy mountain landscapes in search of a snapshot of the snow leopard. At the same time the film gives a realistic insight into scientific fieldwork and the researchers’ efforts to preserve one of the world’s most endangered species. The expedition reveals that the snow leopard status is far more critical than first thought, due to an increase of domestic animals and humans to the area. The film gives opportunity to reflect on the human role and its imprint on nature. If man and nature can’t coexist in one of the most desolate places on earth - where then? The film has been shown at Trento Film Festival 2016 in Italy and participates in the competition for best film at Bansko Mountain Film Festival in late 2016 in Bulgaria.

376 AD — a refugee crisis in the Roman Empire. The destiny of a Germanic family and its tribe reveals a historical perception on today’s migrational movements. Inspired by actual events. The summer of 376 AD. The Gothic female warrior Elja is forced to give in to the marauding Huns and to seek shelter for herself and her clan in the Roman empire. Once at the border they must wait for orders and provisions from the Roman authorities. Elja tries to understand the Roman plans in spite of the language barrier. Reluctantly Elja must hand over her sword as the Roman general Cossus tells her that, being a woman, she will never be accepted as a warrior in Rome. She feels helplessly at the mercy of her alleged allies and their laws. Why is she being treated like a prisoner of war? Why can’t she travel onwards with her clan? What will happen when the Huns reach their camp? The Gothic faith — and in turn Elja’s entire identity — is put to the test. When Cossus surprisingly calls upon the Gothic clan leaders, tempers reach their boiling point and the situation escalates.

The China Mission chronicles the efforts, adventures and experiences of Irish catholic missionaries in China between 1920 and 1954 - times of political chaos, famine, floods, civil war and world war. This is not a small story of isolated individuals; over four decades, hundreds of Irish men and women worked in social, pastoral and disaster relief services and were swept up in epic events at an extraordinarily turbulent but fascinating period of Chinese history. For example, the Yangtze River floods of 1931 killed an estimated 4 million people. It remains the greatest natural disaster in human history and Irish missionaries were heavily involved in the relief efforts. When the Japanese invaded China during WWII, Irish missionaries found themselves in occupied and unoccupied territory. The war wreaked a heavy toll in China but the defeat of Japan did not bring peace. The Chinese people endured civil war until Communist forces were victorious.  And there was to be no place in Communist China for the Irish missionary priests and sisters who had worked in the country for four decades. Mao Zedong declared war on religion and persecuted foreigners in particular. Foreign missionaries were arrested and imprisoned in harsh conditions. By 1954 all had been expelled. This film makes extensive use of rare archival photographs and film ‘ much of it never seen before. Promotional films made by missionaries themselves are featured alongside international newsreels which help set the political and historical context. The China Mission is an extraordinary story of cultural interaction, and commitment in the face of natural disaster and political danger.

Director James Buddy Day spent a year interviewing Manson by phone from his cell in California State Prison. We tracked down members of the ‘Manson Family,’ many who have been in hiding since the early seventies. These compelling new interviews reveal new details that unveil the true story behind the grisly murder spree. Manson continues to be a beacon of public fascination. How could a drifter and ex-con become a charismatic leader of what prosecutors called a diabolical murder cult? Why did the killers target the home of a Hollywood sex symbol? And where did the prosecution come up with the theory that it started with a Beatles song called Helter Skelter? The film uncovers shocking new details, never before seen materials and digitally restored audio recordings from the original investigation to reconstruct the events that led to the murders of Sharon Tate and four friends on August 8, 1969. Exclusive interviews include Manson Family members Bobby Beausoleil, Barbara Hoyt and Catherine Gillies, prosecutor Stephen Kay, defense attorney Gary Fleischman and music producer Phil Kaufman. The film also features rare footage and audio recordings of Leslie Van Houton and Susan Atkins. The most riveting elements come from Manson himself through never before seen pictures, artwork, writings and recordings from inside California State Prison.

Ultrarunner Karl Meltzer has dreamed of setting the speed record for completing the Appalachian Trail as long as he’s been running. Now Karl sets out for his third and final attempt to run the 2,189 miles from Maine to Georgia in less than 46 days, 8 hours, 6 min. A Feat that takes serious physical and mental stamina. Karl’s run was not a walk in the park — he suffered a few injuries and set backs that could have put the record in jeopardy. He fueled his body with a high fat and calorie diet, which sometimes included pizza, ice cream and beer. The film is a look at hiking culture and why people feel compelled to attempt it through the good and bad such as Karl’s record-breaking attempt. With an eclectic crew, including his father, his wife and his friend Eric, they challenged an endless grind through the country.

A DANGEROUS IDEA is a cautionary tale about the powerful current of biological determinism that has eroded the idea of equality throughout modern American history. It reveals how scientists and policy makers have promoted genetic pseudoscience to roll back gains on race, class, and gender equality based on the false idea that genes determine who we are and what we can achieve. Like no other film before it, A DANGEROUS IDEA maps the front lines in the battle for the soul of this country, as economic and ideological interests continue to use the gene myth to unravel the American Dream.

Point of No Return chronicles one of the most suspenseful and pioneering scientific adventure stories of the 21st century, following two pilots in their attempt to circumnavigate the globe in an airplane fueled exclusively by sunlight. Their mission: to prove the potential of clean technology and to inspire hearts and minds. To achieve their goal, they must push themselves and their team of engineers and meteorologists far beyond their limits.  Thirteen years ago, Bertrand Piccard and Andre Borschberg began building what many experts said was impossible: a solar-powered airplane capable of flying day and night. With the wingspan of a 747 jet and the weight of a car Solar Impulse is extremely fragile; high winds or turbulence can snap the wings in two. But the 26,000-mile journey tests more than their technology. In an unheated, unpressurized cockpit, the 5-day solo flight across the Pacific Ocean becomes a feat of endurance unlike any other in aviation history.  Technical failures, unplanned landings, and stormy weather put the entire mission in jeopardy and drain the spirits of the team. To succeed, both Piccard, a psychiatrist and balloonist, and Borschberg, an engineer and jet fighter pilot, must set aside their differences, and go against the advice of their engineers. Their gripping story sheds light on what it takes to attempt something truly groundbreaking and is testament to the tenacity of the human spirit.

While visiting an aunt and uncle in the exotic countryside of Costa Rica, a young Southern belle from Alabama accepted a ride on the back of a motorcycle belonging to a charismatic local farmer — a ride that would propel her down narrow mountain roads and into history. First Lady of the Revolution is the remarkable story of Henrietta Boggs, who fell in love with a foreign land and the man destined to transform its identity. Her marriage to José “Don Pepe” Figueres in 1941 led to a decade-long journey through activism, exile, political upheaval and, ultimately, lasting progressive reforms. First Lady of the Revolution is not only a depiction of the momentous struggle to shape Costa Rica’s democratic identity; it’s also a portrayal of how a courageous woman escaped the confines of a traditional, sheltered existence to expand her horizons into a new world and live a life she never imagined.

In the thick of epidemic catastrophe, can architecture help to heal? Dr. Jean William Pape, a Haitian infectious disease specialist, believes it can. He has dedicated the last 35 years to combating diarrheal diseases that harm and kill his nation’s poor, and along side his colleagues at Les Centres Gheskio, has achieved remarkable improvements in community health in Haiti and beyond. On Jan 12, 2010 an earthquake rocked the capital of Port-au-Prince, killing over 150,000 people and all but destroying the city’s already weakened public infrastructure. Gheskio staff triaged and cared for thousands of injured and sick following the disaster using donated military cots and tents. Just nine months later, as the country was beginning to recover, Dr. Pape’s worst nightmare came true. An outbreak of cholera swept the city’s crowded neighborhoods and relief camps. Gheskio’s staff now braved a whole new challenge - how to combat one of the worst cholera outbreaks in over a century in a place with almost no sanitation infrastructure. On the front line of an international effort to stem the tide of an epidemic, Gheskio used every means at their disposal to combat the disease, including innovations like world’s first mid-outbreak cholera vaccination campaign. Asking what else could be done, Dr. Pape invited the architecture firm MASS Design Group to help address the underlying problems that had allowed such an outbreak to occur in the first-place.Together they envisioned a facility that would not only create a healthy and dignified environment for patients, but would act to disrupt the vicious cycle of infection taking place through the re-contamination of water by cholera waste. Moreover, it would be built by Haitians using locally available materials, maximizing its social and economic impact on the surrounding community.Design that Heals is an uplifting story about leadership, innovation, and human resilience. As the building comes together, it reveals a powerful statement of what seemingly disparate fields can accomplish when they work together. As Dr. Pape achieves remarkable victories over such a complex health issue through an integrated approach to health and wellness, viewers are prompted to ask - what more can we all do?

How far will a father go to protect and love his family? Kenny picked Oklahoma cotton from the age of 5 and bought his first guitar from the Sears Roebuck catalogue when he was 7. By the time he was 10, preachers came from all over Oklahoma to take him to tent revivals to play his beloved Silvertone guitar. Over the years, he collected and played Gibsons, Martins and Fenders and when he wasn’t playing them they hung on the wall of his music room. Now in the final days of his long life, he has one last request, "Don’t sell my guitars," with a surprising revelation of what happened to his most beloved guitar of all: that old Sears Roebuck Silvertone.

The film ‘In Rajasthan’ is an intimate look at a disappearing culture in one of India’s most traditional states. It is the story of two families, one Hindu and one Muslim, living in an ancient village in the Thar Desert whose lives have been interwoven for thousands of years with the Rajputs, once their feudal lords and protectors. They speak candidly about child marriage, their qualms about their spouses, the caste system, the dubious future of children exposed to the modern world, the afterlife, and the religious differences between them. Today, their traditional way of life is besieged, but their struggles with family, allegiance, religious conflict and death seem timeless.

In some provinces in the Philippines, to this day, boys around the age of 10 are circumcised. But not in hospitals, like in the city — they are cut in a stream. The boys strip, jump into the water, line up, chew guava leaves, and then face the moment of truth: Brave or Cowardly? Rene-boy, an introverted 10 year old who is the son of Itoy, the Mang Tutuli (performer of circumcisions). Everyone loves Itoy seen as the ultimate man’s man. Rene-boy’s brother is Kinopi, a ferocious bully, who follows in his father’s footsteps as being tough and charismatic.
