Two estranged siblings are reunited at the funeral for their parents, a couple of crazy doctors-without-borders who rarely stuck around to do any parenting. Though supposedly all grown up, Marcus and Michelle are as lost and self-centered as kids. They struggle with their lack of grief over the deaths, and they struggle with each other. Tensions rise while Michelle stays with Marcus and his wife. They wait for days as the family lawyer sorts out the convoluted estate of the globe-trotting doctors, who may not be the angels they were thought to be. Marcus tries to keep a sputtering music career alive as he spirals into a black hole of mysterious health ailments, and Michelle begins a secret affair with Marcus’ father-in-law that will be disastrous if discovered. The siblings can’t help but turn their current lives and relationships into chaos as they’re forced to reckon with their shared past. The movie is about pain, laughter, loss, sex, ego...it’s about the search for real family and the strong pull of roots. Turns out it’s hard to be the children of saints.
